Through the exploration of various organ systems, scholars in my Human Anatomy and Physiology course learn how the body sustains life. For each organ system, my scholars examine the structures of different organs to draw conclusions about their functions. The scholars are most engaged when they can explore how changes in structure lead to dysfunction and then attempt predict and construct solutions for those problems. I am requesting Chromebooks and tablets. With these digital resources, my scholars will observe real-world medical procedures, and perform virtual surgeries and other medical procedures with digital models to address a variety of ailments. In the skeletal system unit for example, scholars analyze x-rays and MRIs of healthy and dysfunctional (arthritic) knees and hips, then perform virtual knee and hip replacement surgeries.
