Manipulatives like counters and number dice help students to reason and make sense of abstract mathematical concepts. A Whiteboard Drawing Instrument Set will facilitate student modeling in the classroom, a proven method for increasing engagement and cooperative learning. A coordinate grid dry-erase classroom kit will help students establish a firm understanding of the coordinate plane, which is an essential prerequisite to success in the future study of algebraic functions. My experience with older students has indicated to me that middle school students in my district do not master basic concepts of correspondence and equivalence in the context of the coordinate plane. By increasing their engagement with learning objectives through the use of these materials, I believe, I can affect their mathematical achievement far beyond my classroom.
