I am setting up a brand new reading lab in an inner city school and could use your help in making their new classroom one that is cozy and comfortable as well as supplying me with a few essential teaching supplies. There are three stations in the lab that include small and large group instruction, an independent reading area, and a computer station. Mats and a little foam sofa for the independent reading area are really important because the floors are hard and cold and rugs don't always work here. The earphones with microphones are necessary for the program because the kids have to read into the speaker for fluency skills. Comfortable chairs for the computer area will make the room special to them and motivate and encourage them to want to come and learn to read. They can feel as if they also deserve nice things that other schools have. The teaching supplies will help me to provide for their needs in a classroom. For instance, many of them can't afford binders and having a binder that is big enough for them to have sections in it for their work will help them complete work and stay organized.
Your generous donation to our project will help my students to know that there are people in the world who believe in them and know that learning to read matters. Your donations will help them to become better readers and improve their academic abilities, which in turn, will build up their self-esteem and enable them to someday get a job to also contribute back to our world.
