My students are always wanting to build and create. I'm constantly reminding them that paper spinners, poppers, and fortune tellers are for free time....and need to disappear before they come into the classroom. I need to do this to keep them focused on learning, but a DaVinci Jr. 3D Printer would allow us to bring creativity into our learning. We will read about 3D printing with Leo the Maker Prince, and then we will learn to create 3D prints of our own. Students will learn about measurements, temperature and changes, 3-dimensional graphing, and the latest technology as they explore and create with the Davinci Jr. We will use it to create new manipulatives for our lessons as well as small trinkets to keep in our class store for students to earn through academic accomplishment and good behavior. It will add to our maker space where students are given time to create and explore through STEAM concepts. Just as Leonardo DaVinci was known for his art, he was also known for his engineering. A printer named after him will help our classroom add more art to our STEM focus to create STEAM.
