My classroom is very active by nature, so sitting still is a challenging task for the students. There are many opportunities for students to learn while standing, moving, and exploring, but learning how to sit and attend to a task are also important for kindergarten readiness. These stools will allow students to utilize movement while they seem to be sitting still. Not only will the movement help students focus while completing independent work at centers, they will help develop gross motor skills. Half of my students have developmental delays which makes core strength, balance, and good posture a challenge for them.
