Classroom transformations help bring learning to life by creating an exciting and interactive learning environment for students. Many of my fourth grade students have told me that they aren't fond of reading and writing for a variety of reasons. With my classroom transformations, I hope to change the way they look at literacy! The Lafayette Cafe will expose students to a variety of book genres, Grammar General Hospital will help us review grammar, editing, and revising, and CSI: O'Brien Edition will help us practice using text evidence and making inferences! By transforming our classroom into a restaurant, construction zone, crime scene, spy headquarters and an emergency room throughout the school year I hope to show students that reading and writing can be fun! I also hope to show my students that the skills that we learn in reading and writing such as inferencing, editing/revising, synthesizing, etc. can be beneficial beyond the walls of our school. These are skills that they will use throughout their lives and careers.
