"It is not in the stars to hold our destiny but in ourselves." - Shakespeare. When children are exposed to the arts, this allows them to live life as a more cultured adult. The theater arts in particular encourage children to succeed in a variety of talents; public speaking, team work, and learning to critique are all skills that will be needed as an adult. I feel that by encouraging students artistically I can capture their interest in the language arts, historical events, and mathematics. I feel children have the ability to know their limitations and when encouraged properly they have the capability of overcoming those limitations. Providing a collaborative working environment promotes the development of critical-thinking skills that can be used for the rest of their lives.
