I am trying to bring floor hockey to CPA in an effort to expose my students to a variety of sports. Soccer and basketball are popular, however, that is really all they know. I am trying to change that! They are resistant to change at first, but once they learn more, they are hooked! High BMI and obesity are also prevalent in our school neighborhood. Due to the demographics, our students are constantly surrounded by fast food options. By purchasing this fitness equipment (workout polyspots), we can easily introduce them to full body workouts that don't necessarily require equipment at home. If they are aware of workouts that can be done without equipment, they are more likely to do them. Stopwatches will teach enable them to keep time while they keep track of their heart rate. Yoga mats will ensure that they have a comfortable space to workout, as our classes are all outside on pavement.
