Touch screen technology (like my phone that they use often) allows my munchkins with fine motor difficulties to complete similar activities that their classmates are doing. Technology is something that can be incorporated into writing, math and art. They love using the SMART Board, but my students that have physical handicaps can’t join in the learning unless we carry them (which we always do). Touchscreen laptops can allow them to join in while not feeling uncomfortable or singled out and can also provide the opportunity for their friends and classmates to work side by side with them daily. Independence and freedom to learn is the main reason we need these.
