These goals would allow me to provide a more authentic experience for sports like soccer, hockey and handball. Currently when we are playing soccer, we either go outside to the large soccer field where there are only two goals, spaced very far apart with large teams, or use traffic cones for goals in the gym. This leads to activities that are not developmentally appropriate or conducive to the child's learning. One large soccer field outside forces us to be in two large teams and, quite frankly, isn't very enjoyable for the students. If there were more goals, the teams could be cut in half, if not smaller, and that would create a more rich, authentic environment that is inclusive for all students. Having more portable goals would provide the ability to have more games going simultaneously either inside or outside. That would lead to higher participation rates and higher levels of physical activity for ALL students!
