Presently the helmets we have are at least 10 years old and I fear do not protect against concussion or injury compared to equipment recently developed to better protect the players. Our equipment is not only old but does not fit well and the catchers gear worries me tremendously on a daily basis. We had a boy hit in the head last year while batting, my heart was in my throat and he was fortunate to not be seriously injured, all he lost was some time on the field. I know if he had a better fitting helmet the blow would not have been nearly as serious. The catchers gear is worse and we had to tie a neck guard to the helmet as it is too old to have the attachment clip.
