Our goal is to help improve student reading comprehension and critical thinking skills with TIME For Kids. As third grade teachers, we recognize the skills and knowledge students need to succeed in work, life and citizenship, as well as the support systems necessary for 21st century learning outcomes. With TIME For Kids, our students can read nonfiction articles about real events and issues that are engaging and important to them. These topics can then be incorporated into fun, collaborative lessons that range from social studies and science to world news and geography. The majority of our students do not have access to reading material at home. The weekly/individual "Time for Kids" subscription not only provides a vital learning opportunity in the classroom, but can also be taken home to further support and promote literacy for the entire family. Students will treasure and look forward to sharing their magazine and the knowledge gained with each exciting issue.
