I would like my students to learn how other races and cultures were treated unfairly, segregated and demeaned based upon their religion. This class set would allow each of my students to read about the struggles of Hannah during the Holocaust. Students could then compare and contrast the struggles of Hannah and other races struggled throughout time. This would give insight into how they overcame and rose above the situation. The story was written through a child's perspective which would provide my students a similar viewpoint. This way they can connect to the character and feel like they are part of the story. They can related to the character and understand they are not alone in their struggles.
