The possibilities are endless for what could be done with an iPad in my 2nd grade classroom. I am most excited to allow my students to use our iPad as an independent math center. We were lucky enough to win an Osmo at a technology conference, but my students haven't had a chance to use it yet because it is only compatible with Apple products. I can't wait to show my students all of the highly-engaging games that Osmo has to offer! It will be perfect for addition and subtraction fluency practice, as well as many other activities. There's just one problem- we can't use it until we have an iPad! Some of my favorite moments as a teacher are the times when I realize that my students are having so much fun they don't even realize they are learning. Often it is grueling for students to master their addition and subtraction facts. It is heartbreaking to see so many of them struggle and feel unsuccessful. With an iPad students will be given ample time each week to practice their math facts without even realizing they are doing math! They will be begging to practice their facts on our new iPad!
