Having a catcher set, baseballs, and a throw and field trainer will help the boys aspire to perform well and boost community pride in a sport that has been somewhat forgotten. I want to use baseball to spark that pride through competition in baseball, to go along with the other sports in our community. Baseball in urban communities has been largely left behind in the wake of popularity in basketball, football, and even soccer; and one result is a lack of enthusiasm in sports and academics in general. My goal for the boys baseball team is for them to spark pride in a challenging neighborhood for students participating in sports and reaching new academic heights. I believe we can do this by building up our baseball to join our basketball and football programs.
