As a school committed to STEAM-based curriculum, our Arts students are looking for ways to utilize other subjects- in this case mathematics - into their Arts experiences. With the mat cutter, and measuring tapes, students will be able to practice and use mathematical skills by accurately measuring artworks, determining appropriate sizes for border widths, and calculating and measuring equal distances to center the works; then placing the works within frames, and space the matted works in our gallery space. This chance to practice the professional skills of a Gallery Designer will help prepare students for futures in both college and career, and also give our student artist a chance to experience mathematics in a practical and "hands-on" way through the arts.
