Mindfulness has played a major role in my classroom over the last couple of years. It has helped my students identify many things in their daily lives that they can control and some things that they can't control but can try to understand. To continue their mindful education, I want to introduce bullet journals into their mentoring regiment. With bullet journaling, my students will obtain a creative, customizable way to organize tasks, set goals, track moods or habits, reflect on the day or week, exercise mindfulness, and much more. Overall, my students will have a personal means of expressing, and more importantly, understanding who they are through their artistic and linguistic abilities. As a curricular bonus, the act of keeping this journal will give them opportunities for practice in those abilities. So, why bullet journaling? There is increasing evidence to support the idea that journaling has a positive impact on physical well-being. Not only that, but journaling can also help my students: -clarify thoughts and feelings -know oneself better -reduce stress -solve problems more effectively -resolve disagreements with others -etc... Every single one of these benefits can change my students' lives. I would jump at any opportunity to guide them to make such a change.
