These books will help to change lives. These books will continue to make non-readers, readers. They will continue to challenge my students to be the leaders in their own lives. With these books my students will soar, my students will become people they never knew they could, my students will realize the power they have in themselves to change not only themselves, but their friends, families and community. I have chosen books such as, "The 57 Bus," "Sonny," and "Not Your Perfect Mexican Daughter" to highlight the diversity of my classroom. My students deserve books in which they are represented. My students deserve books where their lives are mirrored in the pages they read.
