My students are already behind in their reading skills. At this point, they need to be bombarded with as much rich literature experiences as possible. Having a listening center would allow students to have access to literature all day long! We can continue to develop our skills and our love for reading by giving students who do not readily have access an open door to the world of reading! The students in my classroom will gain independence by being able to snuggle up with a good book and enjoy listening. They will also be able to hear good reading practices including pacing, expression, and will practice tracing print as they read.
