My students have become an integral part of my heart and soul since I started teaching 2 years ago. My students are high school aged at a public charter school in California. Our school is tuition-free and is dedicated to preparing 100% of our students on a path to college and leadership. My students come from extremely underprivileged homes and approximately 75% of my students are on free and reduced lunch. My students come from a variety of literacy backgrounds from first-grade readers to 12 grade level readers making literacy and scientific inquiry in my classroom an intense daily challenge.
