First graders love to be entertained for every lesson. I do my best in providing these six year olds with instruction that is challenging, yet full of music and videos and other sources of technology to keep them engaged and make learning fun. We sing songs as part of our morning routine and throughout the day. We listen to books being read aloud and watch short videos or clips to think about lessons and add to our learning each day. With my students being remote, I am constantly engaging them with lessons and am there to support them in small groups or individually throughout the day.
Having access to updated technology is crucial when teaching students that are remote and are eagerly awaiting to learn. My laptop is older and sometimes glitches or does not allow me to properly use the technology as it should. I sometimes get kicked out of our Google Meets and have to rush to try to join the meets with my phone because I know my students are waiting for me. At times, videos or songs are interrupted, or I cannot open files or work done by the students. Getting a new laptop, such as the Mac Book Pro, would allow me to teach without these roadblocks or interruptions throughout the day, and make my teaching more effective, without losing time trying to remedy the situation.
