By providing a touchscreen computer with sound, it will provide my students with the ability to learn without barriers. Being that my students have a wide array of disabilities, such as Autism, Down Syndrome and various health conditions, they require additional supports for learning. These supports include visual, auditory, kinesthetic, and tactile stimuli. Their delayed fine motor skills make pencil and paper tasks very difficult and frustrating. Their sensory processing difficulties make it difficult for them to remain seated and focused for an extended period of time. A touchscreen computer can provide students with handwriting programs and movement activities, which can enhance their learning greatly and make learning a joyful and fun experience for them. I currently have a great handwriting program to use, however, I do not have any equipment to access it on unfortunately. Being that I work in a low-funded school in the Bronx, my resources are very limited. By donating to my project, you will enhance the lives and learning of each and every one of my students as well as contribute to their academic achievement. Technology enhances children's independence and eagerness to learn. It makes it fun while still being educational and it also makes a great way for students to interact with one another!
