Despite the chronic struggles my students face with regard to health and their academics, I urge them to be open to learning new things in the hospital. I am a special educator for NYC DOE's, Hospital Schools on Staten Island, at a Pediatric in-patient facility. This teaching environment is a perfect fit for me. Many of the 1:1 connections with my students have developed into long-lasting bonds. I am continually inspired by the strong will of my students. "The greatest weakness lies in giving up.
