Education in the arts fosters and enriches students' lives. Music instruction can help children become well-rounded, engaged, and active citizens of the world. Developing a music program in my classroom will help nurture and advance my students' critical and creative thinking skills needed in the twenty-first century. My goal is to expose my students through music, to a more enriching and academically challenging education. Not only will my students learn how to play the fluotophone and how to read music, they will also improve their performance arts skills as they perform for their parents and the school community. This will further improve their self esteem and self confidence in their abilities. I would like to buy enough supplies for them to be able to use in school, which will be kept for future students, as well as for use in their individual home practice. I developed this project in an effort to enrich my students' education and ensure that they have the opportunity to gain from the many benefits which the arts, such as music, can provide.
