I believe every one of our biomedical students should have a First Aid/CPR certification. This has long been a goal of mine but it is difficult to accomplish with limited resources and time. We work on getting the certification completed during our Public Health Unit as it is an excellent example of what public health actions can look like. Seniors who leave our biomedical program should all have the opportunity to complete training in life saving skills. Currently I have supplies to train a limited number of students during class time or students must come in during off hours for skills portions. With additional manikins and AED trainer I can help more students complete certification within shorter period of time. This is an awesome way to shorten the number of days it takes for all senior BI students to get skills assessed and leave high school with a certification that provides them more opportunities within healthcare facilities or post secondary programs such as nursing.
