Our writing program is designed to teach students how to create sophisticated sentences by color-coding the parts of speech i.e. nouns are written or underlined in red, verbs are green, adjectives are orange, articles are black and prepositional phrases are blue. The dry erase boards help keep the students engaged when we are doing popcorn answer activities. And a full jar of lollipops on a teacher's desk serves as a constant reminder that rewards are in store. My classroom budget was exhausted after the first 9 weeks of school and fending for myself for my students has become a way of life for me. What a blessing it will be to receive some help for the rest of the year!
