I am the Computer Science and EAST facilitator at a rural high school where over 75% of our students receive reduced/free meals. Employment opportunites in our community are limited service and/or farming jobs. My goal is to introduce, kindle their imaginations, and guide them to explore possibilities in various aspects of technology implementation. With one of the best engineering universities in the country less than 30 minutes away (University of Arkansas), my hope is to create a pipeline of successful students that will graduate with the ability to improve their communities by being able to manipulate technology. Both EAST and Computer Science welcomes all students who want to learn something new. EAST focuses on community improvement while Computer Science focuses on designing computer programs and building machines. Eventually, my goal will be to intertwine the two.
