Hands-on lab activities are a daily part of my 90 - minute science classes. Classroom budgets are quickly used to buy consumable materials (dissection specimens, chemicals etc,) which leaves no room to replace lab equipment. I have been creative with make-shift equipment but some activities do not allow for this. By donating to this project, students will have the opportunity to use equipment that will give them more accurate results and increase their confidence in the scientific realm. Students need to be able to see the application of the science concepts they are being taught and the hands-on activities that would be carried out in class allow for this. Due to a lack of sufficient equipment, I have had to revert to many simulations which just do not have the same effect. I want my students to be able to compete with students from any other area and the equipment purchased would help them do that.
