Before, I had very minimal materials for science and because of that I often let science time slide. Now, I am excited to teach science and to let my little learners explore with the new materials. While we have not been able to dig into all of them yet we have had a great time with what we have opened. \r\nMy favorite lessons so far have been a part of our simple machines unit. During this unit students were first simply given the materials to explore then we did a number of experiments designed around the simple machines set. During this we took the opportunity to add in some measurement while using a lever and fulcrum to launch stale marshmallows as far as we could. This resource has already made a meaningful difference in our classroom.\r\n\r\nWe are using the kidney table daily for small-group instruction and one-on-one reading support. It has created a defined, welcoming space where students feel focused and supported. One especially memorable moment was seeing a normally hesitant reader settle in, relax, and confidently attempt a new text simply because the space felt safe and intentional.\r\nWhen the students first saw the table, they were genuinely excited—several asked if it was \"ours to keep,\" and they quickly understood that it was a place where important learning would happen. That sense of ownership and pride has been powerful.\r\nOur next steps include continuing targeted literacy instruction using this space for phonics, fluency, and comprehension work. The kidney table allows me to meet students exactly where they are and adjust instruction in real time, which is especially important for learners who need extra support and encouragement.\r\n\r\nThank you for giving our students this opportunity. Your generosity has created a space where growth, confidence, and meaningful learning happen every day.","fullyFundedDate":1760376348496,"projectUrl":"project/group-table/9761450/","projectTitle":"Group Table","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Piepho","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9055172_orig.jpg?crop=1284,1284,x0,y470&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1692103336206","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/piephoreading"},{"teacherId":8491676,"projectId":8253835,"letterContent":"My students have loved the activities and supplies we received for learning their sight words!
