Providing my students with a diverse and meaningful classroom library will help support their natural desire to learn and add to their deep curiosity for life. Supporting my students as growing readers, exposing them to various genres, and encouraging them to read for education and for fun is a gift I hope they will take with them wherever they go. My students have access to the library during independent reading times, (which ensures increased comprehension, fluency, and time on task), and they will also use the books as resources and inspiration across the curriculum. These books can also be used as mentor texts in many different subject areas and will ultimately improve their ability to sequence events, analyze main ideas, and even inspire them in becoming better writers!
