Not only are 100% of my students economically disadvantaged and learning English, but 30% of them have an individualized education plan to address autistic needs and or attention issues. Wobble chairs are designed to support students with these special needs because they provide a physical challenge and opportunity to release energy while students simultaneously attend to a task. The modification can also benefit all learners regardless of their special needs. By allowing children to choose the chair that meets their specific learning style is such an empowering way to facilitate choice and learning. When students are provided choice, research shows that they become more vested in their own learning. The wobble chairs will provide students the accommodations they need and the power they need to be active in their own learning.
