Many students that I work with have issues that they struggle with on a daily basis. These issues impact their learning negatively. Covid-19 has added an extra layer of trauma to their current struggles. I have found that their coping skills are not effective or not enough to handle the increased stress and anxiety. The resources that I am requesting will be used to teach and model effective coping skills and social emotional strategies for students. For example, The Mindfulness Workbook would be used in a small group setting to teach students how mindfulness can help them combat stressful emotions. The breathing and yoga cards will help students learn and practice using their breath and their body to feel calm and release anxiety. The stress balls and fidgets help students focus on their learning. The prizes reward students when they use the skills they have learned. Covid-19 has caused a dramatic increase in stress and students need the skills to help them cope more than ever!
