My project:In order for them to acquire and build on vocabulary, they need puppets to develop language skills during Center time.
One area my students struggle the most with is listening and speaking. Having taught in other countries I know first hand how nerve wracking it is to try to overcome learning a new language and having the confidence to speak to native peers. I'm requesting puppets to use during Center time in the Reading Center. At this station, students will be able to retell stories or practice having conversations to boost their listening and speaking confidence and comprehension skills. By doing this, my students will develop language skills. My students need to have many opportunities to retell May stories in order for them to develop language skills and reading comprehension, since most of them are English Language Learners. By retelling the stories, students will be exposed to lots of new words that they haven't heard before. By knowing the words to the stories, they can begin to read the words on the paper.
