"I'm done-now what do I do?" Finding ways to keep students engaged and excited about math is always a challenge. What better way than letting them play games that not only provide practice on the skills taught, but will necessitate the use of logical thinking and problem-solving skills. I am requesting funding to purchase math games and puzzles that will fill these needs. My students will be using these games and puzzles when they are finished with their daily assignments and occasionally as an introduction to a lesson. Many of the students struggle with their basic facts so I will be using the Electronic Flash Cards and the Zoom Multiplication card games as reinforcement and practice in doing their facts, which will help as they move to more complex problems. Games such as the Perpelxus and nine-piece puzzles will be used to work on perseverance. Equate and Mobi the numeric Tile game will be very helpful as we work on equations and algebraic expressions. The rest of the games I have chosen deal mostly with logic and problem-solving skills which are important in all areas of the classroom.
