Children learn best from example. We are trying to set examples for our students and provide them access to hands-on learning about living and growing things. By building an outdoor learning environment my students will gain the experiences they need in order to creatively and successfully see science come to life. Creating a worm composting habitat in our school is an integral piece of the puzzle to an outdoor learning classroom so that our students become better stewards of the planet. Positive side effects to outdoor learning are better student engagement and learning success, positive behavior, and improved social skills for cooperative learning.
