Camden is the poorest and one of the most dangerous cities in the US. School is typically the only safe haven these kids know. Our schools, for a variety of reasons, lack the resources to provide these amazing kids with the education they deserve. By investing in these kids, we help can mold them into productive members of society. You're giving them the opportunity to dream of a better future. In order to integrate history/literature and art the kids are doing a novel poster contest in small groups. Each group is going to do a movie poster for the books they are reading (all books are history related). After each groups finishes their posters they will type a “movie” review of each novel which will be presented to the rest of the class. In order for us to do this project, the proper materials are needed white board materials, books and an easel.
