It’s adorable to see kids playing kitchen, but what you're witnessing when you see a child in the midst of dramatic play isn't just something cute. Dramatic play is actually important to our students development, supporting intellectual and verbal skills. Sadly, most classrooms only have a kitchen which doesn't always excite the boys in the room to pretend as much as the girls. Such is the case with my Pre-K room. I am looking to incorporate more dramatic play tools to include my boys in this pretending experience. I would like to turn the kitchen into a veterinary clinic and then a garden/fresh foods market. The materials I am requesting will help us meet our curricular goals and help my students developing literacy skills. It will give the students a chance to experiment with purpose the things they’ve seen at home, on T.V. and in the books we read in class.
