I am requesting the black lights so that my students will be able to identify the highlighted main ideas and details in their text while reading. The black light puts a twist to the traditional way of reading through the text. The students take over their learning process and become investigators of learning. I have also requested musical tambourines and bongos to add a musical element to learning. My students love to sing and dance so why not allow them to use it as a learning device! My students really enjoy our high energy classroom so I have asked for a student rug. This rug would be used to hold Writer's Workshop, Number Talks, group conversations, small group rotations, etc. We have requested a number of other items in our cart that will help our day-to-day instruction, such as a printer, storage cases, and a stapler.
