This is my high school Life Skills classroom in Houston, Texas. My class consists of nine students who function at various levels cognitively, emotionally, and socially. My students maintain a very busy day of academics, both in and out of the classroom, as well as functional activities to prepare them for life after graduation. The items that I have chosen for my students will serve them in many ways with regard to matching and sorting in each of the core subjects and electives. The students work on basic skills according to specific IEP goals from the simplest to the most complex of abilities. These selections assist the teacher with information on how the student learns, remember things, problem-solves, reasons/responds, and pays attention to a task at hand. My students are an amazing group of kids who forge through life with energy and resilience. They deserve all the goodness life has to offer.
