Many classrooms around the country are making a big shift in how their students are navigating around their classroom. There are standing desks, wobble chairs, exercise balls, bean bags, bungie chairs, etc. Those are just a few examples of how we can offer students "flexible seating" options. This means that they do not have to stay seated at a traditional desk all day. I'm requesting two area rugs and two Big Joe chairs. These materials will allow my classroom to begin its transformation into flexible seating and give students choices where to sit for learning activities. With these rugs and chairs I can offer a learning environment that works best for them and their learning style. At our school we are embracing personalized learning which looks and feels much different than traditional teaching and interaction between students. It is only fitting that my classroom environment should evolve with this new style of learning.
