My students can't wait to learn something new on their computers - even if it's keyboarding!! That should give you an idea of how fresh all of this is to them. As exciting as a new laptop is though, we can understand how frustrating technology can be and how scary it would be to cut a eight year old loose on the internet. Being a self designated "Mama Bear" to my third graders I really feel my students need lots of guidance during what is, for most of them, their first experience on a computer and with the internet. With lots of monitoring and many step by step demonstrations, I can guide my kids safely to appropriate websites and in learning new programs like Google Docs, Google Slides, and more. Having a Chromebook hooked up to my samcam would be invaluable in directing and instructing my students. The ability to successfully use technology is a huge requirement for a 21st century student. I want my kids to feel successful and confident as they navigate through their first experiences. The more positive their experience is, the larger their fire will burn with the desire to learn.
