Help support Mrs. Sollenberger's Classroom

I am requesting 6 laptops for my classroom to enhance student achievement. Computers in the classroom help students to become college and career ready. The 4th grade Florida Teaching Standard for Production and Distribution of Writing states: "With some guidance and support from adults, use technology, including the Internet, to produce and publish writing as well as to interact and collaborate with others; demonstrate sufficient command of keyboarding skills to type a minimum of one page in a single sitting." As our standards are changing to includ more technology, so must our classrooms. These laptops will promote higher order thinking which is critical for students who are not exposed to technology at home. The FSA for 4th graders is a computer based test in the areas of math and reading. My students need as much computer practice as they can get in order to prepare them for college and careers. Students will use programs such as Istation, i-Ready, and Think Central, and National Geographic. Istation is a comprehensive e-learning program that allows students to achieve academic growth in reading through personalized instructional paths. Eight students in my classroom have Istation accounts and would be able to easily access those accounts in the classroom through the use of laptops. Laptops in my classroom will also make it easier for all of my math students to take their i-Ready diagnostics assessments. i-Ready progress monitoring will help me see if my math students are on track for meeting the grade level standards. Another benefit of having laptops in the classroom is online access to text. With your help to provide technology in my classroom, students will have access to their futures right at their fingertips. Thank you!
