Do you remember that sound when you accessed the Internet with your modem on a huge computer back in the 1990s? I do! That ear piercing sound is long gone, but luckily the internet is here to stay! With these laptops in our classroom, my students will be able to have a technology center where they will be able to read books online and then take short assessments so I can measure their comprehension on Accelerated Reader. They will also be so excited to hop on the computers to conduct research for hands-on projects. They will be able to do both remedial and enriching activities for all subjects. The testing of the future is going to be online. I want to ensure my students are ready for this change. I want them to be able to take a Math test with nothing but scrap paper. It really is amazing how far we have come the past ten years with technology in the classroom. You are on a computer right now, you know the value is priceless!
Your donation to fund these classroom laptops will not only have an impact on them this year, but it will help my students in subsequent years.
Technology is here to stay and every child should have access to a computer in the classroom, plus, my classroom has no room for an entire encyclopedia set!
