Our school is a high-poverty school in Mississippi. Our children come to us with very little background outside of their neighborhoods. As a veteran teacher with a new group of kindergarten students, we are all learning to grow as readers. I want my students to experience the love of reading that I have had since I was their age. They enjoy looking at the books, listening to stories, and being interactive with the stories. We need more books on kindergarten level to enrich the learning experience of our children.
