As a special educator, the core of my daily teaching happens in focused, small groups that work to target the specific deficiencies of my students. In order to help bridge the gaps in their learning, my students need materials and resources that are reliable, proven, and easily adaptable for use in small groups. These materials will make such a difference in my students learning because it will give them new content to learn from and it will give me new content to teach from. These materials will be used every single day in English class to build phonics reading skills and in math to build foundational skills. Every day I pull small groups in math and English to work on specific, focused skills. In our English small groups, the phonics books will be used by my students to build their reading skills. Though my students are in high school, many of them are reading at the early elementary level. In our math small groups, these books will be used by my students to learn and build on concepts that they are lacking. For a myriad of reasons, my students have made it to high school and are missing crucial skills that are important not only to graduate college and career ready, but to be prepared to move on from one grade to the next. These materials will help me raise my kids to a level where they can thrive and succeed. The desk organizer will make materials more accessible for all.
