I strive to personalize my students' learning experiences in several ways, but one of the main ones is through my use of flexible seating. Flexible seating gets rid of the standard desks and chairs typically seen in classrooms and instead gives students options such as couches, beanbags, or stools to sit on. These various options allow students to have the power of choice and let students choose a spot where they can be comfortable. If students bodies are comfortable, they are more likely to engage in their learning. Giving my student's the power of choice in their seating has increased my students motivation and interest in their academics. I would like to add 4 hokki stools to my seating choices to provide even more options for my learners. Hokki stools are unique in that they wobble, allowing students who have difficulty sitting still, to move around while still focusing on their academics. Research has shown that this benefits all learners, but particularly those who struggle with sitting perfectly still. Students will be able to use the hokki stools during small group learning or a choice during Independent work time.
