My students have severe disabilities, many which cause them to have sensory processing difficulties. If they do not receive enough sensory stimulation throughout the day they cannot focus, are very anxious, antsy and sometimes become very agitated. These materials will provide the equipment for a sensory room for my students so they can focus and learn. My class will go to the sensory room multiple times a day to get the sensory input they need. With the movement tube they can squeeze through a small space which will give them pressure on their body. With the Spacewalk they will be able to improve their balance and also jump on when they need more stimulation. The swing anchor will help us put up a swing to give the students a calming motion when they are upset. They will be able to get out their energy, get deep pressure and move around to provide enough sensory input to focus and calm them enough to learn. Without these materials my students will continue to exhibit behaviors that will impede their learning and progress in the classroom.
