My AP Biology students will use these materials to experience current, practical science applications of the Genetic Sciences they are learning in class. The materials in this kit will allow them to conduct the same experiments and procedures they have seen on popular TV shows that have peaked their interest in the sciences and show them that these skills are ones they can master and possible turn into careers. Students will use the materials to produce DNA fingerprints following protocols similar to real forensics labs. They will then analyze the data they collect and apply it to a real world scenario. This will bring the lessons of class to life and make the learning much more memorable.
