My students are in an inclusion classroom setting. Disabilities vary a great deal, spanning from intellectual and speech impairments to autism. The children are learning how to celebrate all of our uniqueness in the classroom. The novel "Wonder" by RJ Palacio is a great way to dive deeper into reading about these differences and develop acceptance, kindness, and friendship in our students. As a class, we will discuss the struggles the main character felt and relate them to the challenges the students face on a day to day basis. They will work in learning groups to highlight the strengths in all of us.
