These periodicals allow students to keep current with learning about important and relevant news events. Time for Kids allows students access to engaging informational text and supports integrated learning. Scholastic, the publisher, also provides a teacher guide and learning acitivities to support literacy with reading and writing. Further, learning is integrated into a study of current events with topics that are appropriate and relevant to our students' lives. I look forward to exposing my students to this type of non-fiction text, and I also know that they will enjoy engaging in conversation at home based on the learnings, readings, and discusssions that take place in the classroom.
